We’re in the countdown stage for the 2023 HOW Women Lead Change Forum on November 3rd in New York City.
One of the gifts of attending the HOW Forum is taking time for yourself to reflect on where you’ve been and where you want to go in your life and career. Women often neglect this important aspect of professional development and self-care. Allowing yourself the time and space away from work to do just that can not only be revitalizing, but can move you in new, exciting directions. Many attendees have said that they do their best brainstorming at HOW because of the inspiring women they meet.

Roadblocks Affecting Gender Equality At Work

On October 2nd, Sharon Peake, Founder & CEO of Shape Talent, spoke to our London chapter about “The 4Ds Preventing Gender Equality at Work and How to Address Them.”
In her talk, Sharon addressed the organizational barriers which prevent women from being considered for next level roles. One of them is the lack of professional development support. Sharon’s research shows that women get less sponsorships – internal advocates which can help with advancement – and fewer “stretch” assignments. When it comes to performance reviews, it’s more common for women to receive more vague and personal feedback.

On September 18th, Susan Lindner, Founder and CEO, Innovation Storytellers, spoke with Julie Livingston about “The Power of Innovation Storytelling to Create Change and Increase Your Influence at Work.” As Susan said, “women need other advocates to support their breakthrough ideas in order for that idea to be heard, received and be shared with someone else.” This creates a steamroll effect and builds momentum.
