Meg’s Action Commitment December 2018 Update
December 19, 2018
As part of my 2019 commitment to raise awareness around the power women currently hold to demand change – money, I had the privilege of attending the Financial Times Investing for Good USA – Innovative Finance and the Gender Lens Opportunity event on December 4th in NY. It was encouraging to see so many substantial players across all asset classes (Axa, JP Morgan, Pimco, The Rockefeller Foundation, TPG, Women’s World Bank, to name a few) viewing impact investing with a focus on women as a big opportunity. Albeit still too slow, there is movement and many men and women are working on raising dedicated capital. Ask your financial advisor about opportunities to participate in these opportunities.
In the spirit of sharing ideas around other ways to support women, here are a couple of female run companies doing interesting things:
- Repurpose – Compostable, sustainable, single use tableware
- Kuli Kuli – A B-corp working with women-led farming cooperatives around the world to sustainably grow, harvest, and distribute nutrient-rich moringa to drive economic growth, women’s empowerment, and sustainable agricultural development
- Cocomama – Delicious sweets and baking mixes made with sustainably grown, traceable ingredients
