A Year of Grit and Vision

As we step into 2025, we recognize the resilience and tenacity it will take to create the world we envision—one where women’s voices are amplified, health equity is prioritized, and interdisciplinary leadership thrives. Quorum is doubling down on impact, from raising women’s voices to launching a new investment club aligned with our values, and we invite you to join us in making bold change happen.

A letter from Meg Sullivan, Founder and CEO, Quorum Initiative

Dear Quorum Community,

Wishing all of you a healthy, happy and dynamic year ahead. May you and your loved ones stay safe and thrive! My heart and prayers go out to the entire Los Angeles community as they try to tackle unimaginable fear, loss and destruction. May recovery come soon.

Like so many of you, the beginning of the year is when I take a moment to reflect on the past year. 2024 was fascinating. An endless roller coaster that challenged even the most optimistic among us. Women’s rights and DEI were under attack and remain so. There were consistent failures in leadership and social movements, something that continues. Life felt harder and harsher. Our tenacity and resiliency were tested at unforeseen levels.

The Quorum community spent important moments last year working on advancing our leadership skills, inspiring each other, tackling challenges and reflecting on how we might show up differently, more powerfully. It was incredible to watch the actions you took personally and collectively. I felt privileged to witness these important developments and to be called to raise my game too.

2025 is presenting itself as a year requiring loads of grit as well as dreaming. Grit because we are going to have to work harder than ever to create the world we want to see. Dreaming because we must think bigger, imagine different possibilities and execute on those ideas. We must have a vision for a new way forward and not be afraid to go for it.

This moment excites me. It pushes boundaries for me that I haven’t experienced before. It forces me to be more innovative, more collaborative, more empathetic. And most importantly it requires more compassion. It places demands on my leadership and yours in ways we have yet to experience which is exhilarating and scary.

From Leaders to Leadership

Jenny Robinson, PhD
Co-Founder, Coaching on the Go

Imagine walking into a room full of successful professionals and asking, “If you had to define leadership in one sentence, what would it be?” The answers would likely revolve around vision, decision-making, and influence. Possibly you’d hear about financial wizardry with shareholders, a commitment to ESG or being a servant leader. While these traits are often cited, they rarely capture the essence of truly effective leadership.

Pause a minute and reflect. Do you agree? What would you add or subtract or emphasize?

In my Quorum Speaker Series session in March, I want to propose that many of us don’t know what great leadership is and that causes problems. Sure, we think we know – which is why we can write that list at the beginning.

Now, ask: if we really didn’t know what leadership is, how would we know it when we found it?

I’ll give you a clue. Nature teaches us what leadership is. Because when we look at nature, we see how our view has been distorted. There’s a missing piece in our understanding of leadership, and it’s hiding in plain sight. Turns out that leadership in the wild has much more in common with coaching than you might ever imagine.

Quorum Mentoring Circles launching in February 2025!

Quorum is excited to introduce Mentoring Circles, a new initiative designed to provide women with increased support and development opportunities. This program will feature monthly, 90-minute virtual sessions facilitated by Executive Coaches, creating a safe and confidential environment for senior leaders to connect, share experiences, and grow professionally.

The program will launch in February 2025 as a pilot for Quorum members in London, starting with small groups of 6-8 participants. We plan to expand the program to include members in the U.S. by mid-2025, offering this initiative to the broader Quorum community.
