It’s been a year of growth for Quorum as we added a new chapter in St. Joseph, Missouri. Our Speaker Series featured timely and action-oriented sessions and Quorum Live brought valuable conversations with Quorum members and friends to the fore.
In the spring, Quorum’s HOW Spring Retreat at the Blue Fox Motel in Narrowsburg, NY provided the gift of being away from life’s distractions and the opportunity to look inward toward personal growth. The 2024 HOW Retreat is set for May 17th – 19th and will again take place in Narrowsburg, New York. Registration will be available starting in January.
The HOW Forum in November was well-attended with an action-packed agenda. We connected and reconnected with Quorum members and friends and did meaningful work – both internal and external – in plenary sessions, as well as workshops toward creating change for professional women across all industries. Our 2024 HOW Forum will be held in late October.
The Board You Cannot Afford
This week’s Quorum Initiative Speaker Series session on “The Board You Cannot Afford” affirmed how forming a Personal Board of Directors is a tool many women want and need but aren’t sure how to initiate.
From experience, we know that a board that is aspirational is the key lever in helping women to be promoted or get their first C-suite role.
Rebecca Hill, Founder and Principal Consultant, Wise Sherpa, and Meg Sullivan, Founder and CEO, Quorum Initiative, laid out the five critical roles that people need to be on their personal board:
- The Advocator
- The Sounding Board
- The Door Opener
- The Inspirer
- The Supporter
Calls to action for the session included:
- Use the template created by Rebecca to start mapping out your own board and take action to create the board
- Contact either Rebecca or Meg if you’re willing to take part as a case study for their upcoming white paper that will be derived from this session

Quorum Live: A Conversation Series with Quorum Members and Friends
Join us for Quorum Live, an ongoing series of timely conversations with Quorum members and friends on creating change for women in the workplace.
On December 7th, Christine Sandman Stone, Deliver At Scale US, spoke with host Julie Livingston, WantLeverage Communications, on “Next Level Tools For New Managers.” Christine shared what newly promoted managers need to be prepared to do in terms of showing up at work to be seen as “promotable” and driving accountability within their team.
